My Progress

I'm walking 100km this May to leave MS behind

My Progress

107.00km

My Target

100km

Support my challenge to leave MS behind!

I’m taking part in The May 50K challenge this May to raise funds for life-changing research into multiple sclerosis!

MS strikes young people in the prime of their lives. The average age of diagnosis is only 30 years old, and there is no known cure.

Please make a donation and support my challenge to leave MS where it belongs, behind us.

Your donation will support research into the prevention, treatment and finding a cure for multiple sclerosis to change lives.

Thank you!

MY IMPACT TO LEAVE MS BEHIND OVER 6 YEARS

My Updates

          $2699 and 107 km😀
        🌟 We smashed it! 🌟

Over the past six years, you (My Sponsors) and I, have raised $16,026, to support the work of MS Research. This will accelerate research into the prevention, treatment and finding a cure for multiple sclerosis.
    Heartfelt thanks to you all

30th May WORLD MS DAY

$2598 and 104.3 km
 World MS Day TODAY! 🌍
Last night was incredible. Previous Sponsors and New Sponsors came on board and got me over the line.
Both targets have been met 💓
I've just arrived home from a lovely 3 km walk optimistic for the future.
A future where we truly can
         Kiss Goodbye to MS💋

29th May, 2025

My 2 km walk this morning brings me to 101.3 km😃 YAY, 🎉 We Did it!

     Tomorrow, 30th May,
      is World MS Day 🌍

This is a global day of action to come together, raise awareness and show our support for people living with multiple sclerosis.

      Together we are strong 💋

28th May, 2025

  • Over 33,000 Australians are living with MS.
  • MS is most commonly diagnosed between 20-40 years old.
  • Every five minutes, someone in the world is diagnosed with MS.

With your support, we can show people living with MS that there's a whole community behind them raising funds to support vital research to develop better treatments and find a cure. 🥰

Thanks for coming on the journey 💋

27th May, 2025

This May, individuals, teams and organisations have come together with one goal: to support life-changing MS research.
Thank you, once again, to everyone who has joined me on this Challenge.
                          💋

26th May, 2025

Well, the weather finally has turned😂
So this morning was cold, windy and wet which meant I went to the gym and did 3 km on the treadmill.
Five more days of this campaign, which has been very heartwarming to participate in.
Together we are strong💋

25th May, 2025

I think I spoke too early when I said the weather has changed🙄
We are literally in our last week of autumn with blue skies and sunny days. Nights are cool and tonight we are expecting quite a storm! Not to be deterred though, I'm nearly there. A mere 8 km to go. My fundraising has slowed but I'm hoping this week, more people will come on board. Now at $1884.
Together we can make a difference 💋

24th May, 2025

One week to go!
Even as I've been participating in this Challenge there has been progress in MS Research.
Thanks for coming on the journey.💋

23rd May, 2025

Together, our community has raised $1,571,859 (so far)🤩
You can't choose to have a "day off" when you have MS. It's there, every day.
I strongly believe that we must support the ongoing Research so that 33,000 Australians can live better lives.
It's not a matter of "if" a cure is found, but "when".
You, my Sponsors, are already a part of that process. 🙏

22nd May 2025

I can't believe the sun is still shining! So I took advantage of this cool but sunny day and recorded another 5 km.

I really must thank the ukulele community for coming on board to support MS Research.

Together we can make a difference 💋

21st May, 2025

A beautiful 6 km beach walk with my childhood friend Nina. 💕
This news came through today and I just have to share it with you, my Sponsors!

"Here is the latest MS research and advocacy news from MS Australia"

"Researchers studying identical twins and laboratory models have found that certain gut bacteria may be linked to MS development.

This breakthrough opens new possibilities for diagnosing MS earlier, monitoring disease progression, and developing innovative treatments that target or modify gut bacteria."

So much to learn about MS 💋

20th May, 2025

Thank you to Sponsors who have come on this journey again, and those for the first time.

We are on this journey of Discovery together. It's exciting looking to the future knowing our Researchers are working hard to find a cure for 33,000 Australians living with MS.

Together we can make a difference 💋

19th May, 2025

Aiming to log as many KMs as I can before the weather turns😀
This morning was just over 4 km.
So I'm nearly three quarters of the way there!
               🚶🚶🏃🏃🏃
Let's Kiss Goodbye to MS 💋

18th May, 2025

Managed an early 4km walk this morning before a busy day ahead.
It was sunny and the birds were singing. There were remnants of autumn leaves at the base of the trees and soon it will be winter. For now though, I have 13 more days to reach my fundraising goal of $2500 so I'll continue to work hard for those much needed Dollars. 💋

17th May, 2025

Today I split my walk doing 2.5 km in the morning, then another 2.5 km in the early evening, finishing as the street lights came on.
Adelaide is now experiencing some cooler weather and we even had a little rain 😃
Wherever you are, I hope you all have a great weekend and thank you for following my journey throughout May. Also that you know your hard earned money is in good hands with Australian Research teams, working hard to find a cure for MS.💋

16th May, 2025

My goal is to raise funds to accelerate research into MS, targeting prevention, better treatments and finding a cure for this disease that affects 33,000 Australians.
I'm steadily achieving this goal with your help. Thanks for believing in me and the Research we are supporting.
Let's Kiss Goodbye to MS💋

15th May, 2025

I'm fortunate to have great friends and family, who have continually supported me for the past six years.                         🙏
"The MS Research program is moving us ever closer to both a cure and to improving the quality of life for people living with MS".

Beautiful 5km walk from Hallett Cove to Marino Rocks today with Patricia Naylor. We smashed it!
Rohan Greenland
Chief Executive Officer
MS Australia says:
"The MS Australia Research program is your research program – funded by you, supported by you, and dedicated to all those people who live with MS, their family, friends, supporters and carers".

13th May, 2025

Rohan Greenland
Chief Executive Officer
MS Australia says:
"Research not only gives hope but confidence. Confidence that there will be a future where MS no longer has an impact on people's lives like it does today.

Our researchers are certain that with more funding, it's not a matter of 'if' we can stop and reverse MS, it's a matter of 'when'... and that certainly gives me hope".

12th May, 2025

Another 3km walk this morning.
I can't thank you all enough. Together, we really are making a difference.
By accelerating research into the causes, treatments, and management of MS, people with MS will be able to live their lives with less uncertainty, more effective treatments, and one day, a cure.
💋

11th May 2025

MOTHER'S DAY 💐
Together, we're on a mission to fund MS research to help change lives!
Please feel free to share my link to support the ongoing Research.
One day there will be a cure and you will be a part of that journey.
Let's Kiss Goodbye to MS Together                           💋

10th May,2025

Sometimes there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day, however, I managed a 2km walk early this morning.
It's Mother's Day tomorrow and preparations to be made.
     Wishing you all
 a very Happy Mother's Day 💐

9th May, 2025

Thorndon Park Reservoir SA.
Another perfect day to walk 3 km and chat with my friends, Vicki, Dot and Julie.
As I read some posts in
in The #May50K Group I see photos of members who manage their KMs in wheelchairs 💓 and read about others who have just completed their treatment (often infusions) and then push themselves to walk.
     These are our MS Warriors
Together we are strong and one day there will be a cure 💓

8th May 2025

Beginning of week Two
Laratinga Wetlands
Mt Barker
With Linda and Trevor Lovell. A perfect morning with lovely friends, followed by lunch and catch up chatter. 😄
Many of my Sponsors love to come on a walk with me and I love it! It really shows that you care as much as I do and believe in the Research.
Together we are making a difference 💋

7th May, 2025

End of the first week and I'm staying on track😃
We have accomplished:
🌟🌟27 km and $1038🌟🌟
I was pondering the Statistics of 33,300 people living in Australia with MS. We know generally that three out of four people diagnosed are women.
That equates to 24,975 women - Daughters, mothers and sisters.
8,325 men - Sons, fathers and brothers.
Thank you for coming on the journey 🙏

6th May 2025

Today was fun. We performed (four friends in a Ukulele group) for The Combined Golden Grove Probus Club, who were very generous in Sponsoring me. Oh, and I finished the day by adding on another 3km walk 🚶
Feel free to share my link 😃
And let's kiss Goodbye to MS💋

5th May, 2025

Today I received my first international sponsorship. Thank you Dave Ball from UK.
Approximately 2.8 million people are living with multiple sclerosis around the world.
The Research will benefit all 🤩
Together we can make a difference 💋

4th may 2025

A beautiful 3km stroll in the Linear Park today. For those of you doing it tough, we're here to support you. To date my Sponsors have given $860...... ⚡IMPACT: $750 unlocks MRI technology to reveal groundbreaking MS research insights. ⚕️ I'm working towards my goal of 100km and $2500. In the past my Sponsors have been generous and gotten me over the line. Together we can make a difference 💋

3rd may 2025

After arriving home from a road trip I managed to walk 4km. 💋I'd like to share this information with you to demonstrate how important the Research is. 🙏"MS is a chronic condition that attacks the central nervous system (the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves). It's known as an 'invisible illness', with a wide range of symptoms that tend to come and go and affect everyone in different ways.  Approximately 2.8 million people are living with multiple sclerosis around the world and symptoms can include:A loss of ability to Walk, impaired vision and coordination. Pain, fatigue and Weakness and a variety of other symptoms".

2nd may 2025

Three out of four people diagnosed with MS are women. Young people generally aged 20-40 years. In the prime of their lives. How can we not help? We can support the Research, and know that we can make a difference. 💋Today my friend Sharyn joined me on a rural walk in Naracoorte. Thank you for your support Sharyn. 💞

1st may, 2025

As it happens, I am away on a road trip with friends. Today I was fortunate to be in Portland, Victoria to begin my May100K Challenge. Thanks Helen for joining me. Sponsors have again come on board to make a difference. Together we are strong 🙏Thank you all so much for your support. Barb 💋
