Support my challenge to leave MS behind!

I’m taking part in The May 50K challenge this May to raise funds for life-changing research into multiple sclerosis!

MS strikes young people in the prime of their lives. The average age of diagnosis is only 30 years old, and there is no known cure.

Please make a donation and support my challenge to leave MS where it belongs, behind us.

Your donation will support research into the prevention, treatment and finding a cure for multiple sclerosis to change lives.

Thank you!

My Updates

31/05/25 final day!

I decided to end on a high note and I was extremely lucky that the weather was with me. A final 8km walk along the Diamond Creek Trail to Diamond Creek and back. it was a beautiful sunny day and I clearly wasn’t the only one who decided that this afternoon was perfect for a walk. A wonderful way to end my May challenge. I will try to keep it up as a good habit formed. Thanks to all who have supported me, a special shout out to my online helper Sophie and to all those who have donated to this worthy cause.

Pilates and a big push to the finish line

After my weekly Pilates session and making soup for the week, it was time to finish on a strong note. The weather was overcast but a perfect day to get a decent walk in. it’s the last but one day of my challenge and I am keen to keep piling on the kilometres for this good cause.

28/05/25 work walk and a longer walk to clear my head

Some days, you just need to be kind to yourself. Today was one of those days where things didn’t quite go as planned. After work, I decided to just keep walking and this gave me time to put the days events into perspective and simply be kind to myself. Walking in such beautiful surroundings, is such a blessing. After returning home, I even had a visit to our garden of a pair of Eastern Rosellas, reassuring me that everything will be ok!

29/05/25 work walk and little edendale farm walk

Managed to walk to and from work today without being rained on which was a bonus. After completing the tasks I had left to do this afternoon, I went for a short walk to Edendale Farm and back. The weather had become fine with occasional glimpses of sunshine and it was lovely to go for a walk and collect my thoughts. I’ve also updated my goal to 150km for the month, which means I Will have tripled my original goal! So proud of myself, I am hoping to exceed my $500 donation goal too. 🤞

27/05/25 work walk

Only managed a walk to work today but after the last few weeks of putting on the kilometres, it was time for a rest and a physio appointment!

26/05/25 lower park to westerfolds park and back

Such a beautiful ‘bonus’ day. The weather wasn’t meant to be good today so when I woke up to windy but sunny weather, I thought I’d take a chance on a longer walk. I walked out of Eltham Lower Park and over the Yarra River, this week, I went right and walked to Westerfolds Park. As the weather held, I did a full circumnavigation of Westerfolds Park up to the disused manor, past a large mob of kangaroos lounging around the grounds and then returned to Eltham Lowr Park. The rapids on the Yarra River were exceptionally beautiful in the sunshine.

25/05/25 walk to diamond creek and back

Another beautiful day for a walk along the Diamond Creek Trail for a 8km loop to Diamond Creek and back, this time, with Mr S! So lovely to enjoy the beautiful surroundings as we walked.

24/05/25

Short walk from Mount Martha to Mornington. A visit to family and brunch at Donato’s. This gave me the opportunity of a short walk back to their house, stopping only to buy some groceries and cold medication on the way! Not feeling 100% but proud to be able to get a little incidental exercise and a breath of fresh air on this sunny but breezy day.

23/05/25 pilates day today

A shorter walk today in between rain showers. After my late morning Pilates session, I walked around Edendale Farm by Diamond Creek and along the DCT.

22/05/25

My usual work day walks were undertaken and then after work I drove to Eltham Town Centre and walked up towards Bible Street and walked up and down the hills along the suburban streets towards Eltham Lower. Such a lovely walk where you get to look at so many different dwellings, so old and some new, all with beautiful gardens. On the way back up towards Eltham along Main Street it was lovely to walk in the dappled shade of the non native trees. With each breath of wind, a few more russet coloured leaves flutter to the pavement.

21/05/25

Another work day, so I had my short walks to and from work and then decided to walk up Wattletree road and along Parry Road before rejoining the the Diamond Creek Trail. It certainly got the heart pumping getting up the first hill and I was so happy to see the leaves on the ornamental trees planted in the front gardens changing from green, to yellow and orange and even bright crimson.

20/05/25 walk around edendale farm

Another beautiful day. A work day, so a short walk to and from work, followed by a longer walk along the Diamond Creek Trail. A great walk to gather my thoughts.

From lower park to beasley’s nursery and back

A frosty morning today, our first of the year, still a beautifully sunny day so decided to challenge myself. I started at Lower Park and had a wonderful walk to Beasley’s. It was so lovely to watch how they sun played on the river and watch the ducks and other waterfowl move with the flow, in no particular hurry. I walked through the dappled shade of forested areas and out into sunlit clearings, over boardwalks and along rutted pathways. I passed an orchard where yet more wood ducks sat in the long grass dosing. Close to buzzing electricity pylons was a clearing where a mob of kangaroos lazed. I arrived at my destination of Beasley’s and spent a pleasant time looking at the vast array of plants on offer. I took my tea to go and headed back to a small dam I’d spotted that had a conveniently place bench overlooking the water, here, I watched a Kookaburra waiting for its chance to drive of a possible lunch! A slightly slower walk back to the car at Lower Park while carrying my purchase of a vibrant red camellia. All in all a wonderful way to spend part of my day off continuing to add to my walking total for this worthy MS cause. Twelve more kilometres completed, at this rate, I may have to increase my goal for a third time.

17/05/25 mother’s day redo

A day in the city with the whole family to celebrate Mother’s Day in style. Brunch in the laneways of Melbourne, a little bit of shopping, a visit to The Lune to see the Van Gogh exhibition and finished off with dinner on Southbank. I even managed to record a walk as we made it down from Melbourne Central to The Lume and to our dinner venue! All in all a wonderful day with my gorgeous husband and two adult children. 💕

Pilates and a walk

After my weekly Reformer Pilates class, I decided to enjoy the fair weather with a walk. This time I walked along the road to Diamond Creek Township. I finished the walk by walking back along the DCT. I had the path pretty much to myself along my walk and had a lot of time to enjoy my surroundings. It was so peaceful that I walked much further than I was expecting. Another beautiful walk.

A little cooler and cloudy today

Another work day and today was a little bit cooler and cloudier than it has been. It is the start of winter in two weeks, so it’s to be expected. Following my usual routine after work, I walked to the outdoor cafe at Edendale Farm and stopped for a read of my book in the open air with a delicious flat white from the friendly staff. I was even complimented on my accent by a lovely lady which made my day. 💕 Well refreshed, I continued along the DCT, my goal today was to do at least 6km, including my mini walks to and from work! I managed 6.3Km. This has given me a renewed appreciation of my local area, I’m so lucky to call this area home. 🏡

Another sunny afternoon

Another work day. It was a cold, sunny morning a wonderful walk to work. After work, I continued on my walk, again I enjoyed a walk to Edendale Farm for a post work coffee and cheeky read. This May walking has really made me take more notice my surroundings, today I really loved noticed the tree foliage changing colours, beautiful jewel colours. I am appreciative of my daily walk as a time to have time to think and clear my mind after work and appreciate my beautiful surroundings. The gorgeous autumnal weather is certainly helping too. 💕

Another beautiful autumnal day

A work day today, so I enjoyed a crisp but sunny walk to work and a warm and sunny walk home this afternoon. I decided to walk to Edendale Farm after work and even managed a quick coffee pause and a chance to watch an adventurous chicken join me on the deck! Such a beautiful afternoon, I continued my walk along the Diamond Creek Trail listening to the cockatoo’s, rainbow lorikeets and noisy minors as they made their presence know! I was lucky enough to spot a grey heron on the oval, deftly dodging the canine crew who shared the space.

Monday 12th may

Another lovely sunny autumn day and after completing a few household tasks it was time to enjoy the beautiful day. I decided to drive to the other end of the Diamond Creek Trail at Hurstbridge and I walked towards Wattleglen and a little further. So another 8km walk was completed. We are so lucky to have so many wonderful walking tracks and trails in the local area.

Happy mother’s day weekend

Yesterday was Mother’s Day so only a little 3Km walk on Sunday and so little walking on Saturday that I didn’t even record my 2Km walk to the shops and back in Mornington. it was a beautiful weekend though and I’m back on track to continue my walking total. I need to walk off all the lovely cakes.

Diamond creek trail walk

Just a short walk today after my Pilates class and a day of baking for Mother’s Day. A beautiful late afternoon walk in the sunshine.

Diamond creek trail

After the rain, I enjoyed a lovely walk along the Diamond Creek Trail. I keep checking the creek for a platypus but it’s proving allusive. Maybe next walk I’ll be lucky.

A solid start to my challenge

it was a beautiful sunny day on Monday 5th May to start my walk on my day off. Lot’s of wood ducks, cockatoos and gallahs were my companions on the round trip walk along the track from Diamond Creek to Wattleglen and just a little bit further fave me my first 8km! A perfect start, even if I was a few days late joining. May 6th is a work day, so smaller, bite-sized walks, to and from work and to appointments. This was finished off with a lovely walk to Edendale farm and back along the track by the Diamond Creek. I’m so lucky to live so close to such wonderful walking tracks.
