MY IMPACT TO LEAVE MS BEHIND OVER 2 YEARS

My Updates

My Journey with MS

It’s been 4 years and 10 months since I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
5 years since my last major relapse.

I still remember that morning like it was yesterday — waking up and not being able to feel anything from my waist down. No warning, no build-up… just gone.

Over the next week, it spread. Into my arms. My upper body. Everywhere.

I went from not being able to type properly because I couldn’t feel my hands… to not even being able to wipe my own ass properly.

That’s the reality of it.

I don’t miss it one bit. Not even close.

But the truth is, with MS, it can all come back any day, any time. No warning. No way of knowing what it’s going to affect next or how bad it’ll be. That uncertainty sticks with you.

Even now, it shows up in different ways. I can’t even enjoy a hot shower without my whole body tingling. And the fatigue… it hits out of nowhere and can be absolutely debilitating.

Then there’s the ongoing side of it — MRIs every year, blood tests every 6 months. Always checking, always monitoring. It’s exhausting, just in a different way.

MS is part of my life now. That’s just how it is. But it’s not who I am.

Since my diagnosis, I’ve made it a thing every year to raise funds for something that actually matters. Each year, more friends and family get involved, and that support means more than I can put into words.

I’m grateful for the people in my corner, and for the work that MS Australia does — raising money and pushing hard to find a cure for this chronic illness
