Please support me in challenging myself in challenging my body's limits to create funds to help the scientists LEAVE MS BEHIND!
I’m taking part in The May 50K challenge this May - probably biting off more than I can chew, hoping to walk or even roll, 150K - to raise funds for life-changing research into multiple sclerosis!
As most of you who have known me for a while know, MS strikes young people in the prime of their lives. The average age of diagnosis is only 30 years old, and there is no known cure. With me, I was diagnosed at 18 years old, but after having had a brain biopsy in 2019 or 2020, amazing scientists discovered that I've actually been living with MS my entire life, since in utero. In hindsight this explains so many symptoms and so much of my klutzy personality.
Please make a donation and support my challenge to leave MS where it belongs, behind us.
Your donation will support research into the prevention, treatment and finding a cure for multiple sclerosis to change lives.
I live with MS. My mother lives with MS. I am someone who tries to find the positives in the negatives, and without this diagnosis, there is a multitude of strong; funny; selfless women and men who I never would have met who live with MS. I have seen and heard from individuals living with MS and those around them. MS impacts everyone.
In my opinion, having been diagnosed for 10 years and having lived with MS for 29; It can be very physical and/or extremely so, an invisible illness. It can be very difficult to be taken seriously or understood, which then leads to isolation on many levels. There is a lot of misunderstood grief around the loss of the person we were before and who we thought we would become. There is so much loss and guilt that comes with this illness that most people don't consider and we carry this, whether we seek mental health help or not. There are a lot of invisible struggles that are not obvious. We feel a lot of guilt and embarrassment around having to ask or just accept help. We need better understanding.
Thank you, Al! 🥄
