Support my challenge to leave MS behind!

I’m taking part in The May 50K challenge this May to raise funds for life-changing research into multiple sclerosis!

MS strikes young people in the prime of their lives. The average age of diagnosis is only 30 years old, and there is no known cure.

Please make a donation and support my challenge to leave MS where it belongs, behind us.

Your donation will support research into the prevention, treatment and finding a cure for multiple sclerosis to change lives.

Thank you!

MY IMPACT TO LEAVE MS BEHIND OVER 2 YEARS

My Updates

Fundraising in Mallala, Heading There Soon!

I've had one fundrasing session in Mallala so far, in front of the IGA supermarket there, and was reasonably successful with it. I've only got to raise $15 dorrars more and I hit $100 - can I reach that today?
Well we'll see, won't we? If I don't head off to Mallala though, it definitely won't happen, will it? I want to walk another 4km today too, if I can, so yes, get moving!
We took Lenny our dog for a walk this morning, did 1.2km, heading for 5km every day until Sunday 31st, if I can,
There's blue sky out there now, no rain, so this time I shouldn;t get wet as I walk!
Lenny seems to be happy lying dwon on the sofa, so he won't be coming with me. That's fine, if I'm in Mallala I know I'll be with friends!

A Good Session in Gawler Today!

I decided to have a coffee at the Prince Albert Hotel this afternoon, and set myself to do some more fundraising for The MS May 50 fundraising challenge.
I chatted with a variety of different people, and was giving some funds into my collection tin, and also some funds paid into this online website.
Talking with people a little avbout my personal MS journey is useful, I feel, because it shed light on how different MS can be for different people.

Fundraising in Gawler

I'll be fundraising every Thursday - look for me in frount of the Prince Albert Hotel 1.15 to 3.45pm

Almost A Third Of The Way

I began walking so I'd be able to do the required walking, so I'd be able to do this challenge.

I also began the Fundraising needed for the other part of this challenge. But while the walking part was relatively easy, because I'd been doing lots of walking.

But while I've raised almost a third of the $1000 fundraising I want to donate at the end of May, the money has slowed somewhat.

While I expect that to improve as soon as I begin actively being out in the community, set up with my collection tin, I am aware of the various reasons why cash donations have become more difficult for many people to give.

When paying the mortgage or rent is due, giving money away to someone else just can't happen. I understand that, and am so grateful for every donation I've received so far, and will be grateful for any amount received during this May fundraising challenge.

I am Feeling So Ready!

Last year was a bit of a disaster for me personally in May, with the death of my mother early in the month.

I still managed to keep on going, and the truth is, having something that I'd talked to my mother about previously, and she'd actually donated money to meant I felt I owed it to her, tho myself, and to other people like me who are living with MS.

So while I didn't aise as much as I did the previous year, or hope to raise this year, I still walked and raised funds as best I could. with all of the bad aspects of Mum's death.

But that was then, and while I still miss my Mum, life continues on. And I've found a love of walking that is growing and growing, so getting the kilometres walked starting tomorrow feels like a fun thing to do, not a difficult thing.

I feel fitter than I ever have before in my life, even at the age of 63! So ofcourse I can walk not 50K but 100K in May, easy!

Raising the $1000, plus more though, that will be more difficult, but I will do it, whether from donations, or by puttng in more money myself, I put it in writing that I'd do it, and so it will be done!

Maybe Upping My Goal

If I can raise more than $1000 before the end of April, I am going to put my fundraising goal up to the amount raised by 30 April, plus another $750!

Can ou help me get there? Just the cost of a cuppa is enough, it all adds up, if enough people help!

Why do i like walking?

going for a walk especially with friends is a lovely way to both strengthen the body, and strengthen friendships as well! Unlike jogging, walking is both strengthening, and a the same time gentle on the body. I have a knee, my right knee, that has troubled me somewhat for many years. I suspect arthritis is part of the issue, and the older One gets, the more arthritis may increase. Going for a walk though, doesn't give me any pain at all So because I'm able to do it, I will continue walking, and I am going to do the MS May 50k challenge, to both walk, and to raise funds to help all of us with Multiple Sclerosis!
