Support my challenge to leave MS behind!

The MS society, an international organisation, advocates for continued investigation, deeper understanding of the condition and how it can be prevented and treated. The society also supports people, providing education to those living with the disease as well as their families and communities. 

MS is a neurological disorder, affecting the pathways between the brain and body, leading to both sensory and motor dysfunction. Scar tissue buildup in the brain and spinal cord further impact signalling and can have drastic effects all over our system. More so, symptoms are highly variable, meaning that no two people will have the same experience. 

I spend a great deal of time around people living with MS. From two strong women in my family—my mum and my great aunt— to my incredible job, where I work alongside another three. 

Through my job, as a disability support worker, I have had the opportunity to meet with, and talk to, other people living with MS. It is shocking to me how prevalent it is in our community, yet how little it is known. 

Each story that I have heard from, and witnessed first hand, are vastly different. From their diagnoses, to their symptoms, and how they’ve chosen their treatment journeys. Each that will impact their lives ahead. 

Participating, I’ve wished to do since my mums diagnosis in 2021. Five years later I’m finally doing it and will complete 100km over the course of the month; both walking and running. Please, if you can, donate to help those living with MS. Thank you! :))
