My Progress
I'm walking 50km this May to leave MS behind
My Progress
14.00km
My Target
50km
Support my challenge to leave MS behind, and move forward with it until that's a reality.

I’m taking part in The May 50K challenge this May to raise funds for life-changing research into multiple sclerosis, and to encourage myself to stay active and push forward whilst living with it.
MS strikes young people in the prime of their lives. The average age of diagnosis is only 30, with many being diagnosed between 20 - 40, but sometimes even as children. There is no known cure. I was diagnosed, or at the very least it was highly suspected, in December 2020. What an end to an already horrible year that was.
Please make a donation if you can and support my challenge to leave MS where it belongs, behind us. It's a hope many of us have as we go through life with it, or seeing a loved one live with it.
Your donation will support research into the prevention, treatment and finding a cure for multiple sclerosis. It may ultimately be a far off dream, but my true hope is that one day people won't have to suffer with this disease.
Thank you for any support anyone gives. Sharing my journey, donating, or just leaving an encouraging word. Every dollar helps hopefully create a brighter future.

My Updates
Day 7
5k between river walk and Exercise physio. Exhausted now, but 14k outta 50k done.
Day 5 & 6
Short days, but given lack of sleep and migraine, I can't be mad about at least 1k. Every step adds up, after all.
Day 4
Rest day yesterday. 2k today. 7k down. (It is glitched to 10k because it added the fitbit steps after I manually added them, but if I have to take that off, I will. So it added 3k from day one twice. I've since removed the fitbit automatic part as I'd rather log it.)
Day 2
A small walk day.First half of the day was painting, then added in a small walk outside to get in a little bit more. Nothing fancy. Still sore from yesterday and then painting. By the end of the day, I'll probably be at 2k by just getting up and walked around my house, but chucked on the half a k I couldn't yesterday.
Day 1
Day 1 done. Exhausting with an already sore leg, but I pulled through. Pretty sure I'm asleep with my eyes open though; tired as and it's not even 4pm.
Ready for May50km
Choosing to do this with MS is daunting, but so is having MS as it is so unpredictable. No two days are exactly the same. Unpredictability is the baseline of MS. You can predict some things, but not everything, and it's always changing. While my original plan was to do the MS walk, run, and roll - and I may still do that at the end of May if health permits - this affords me the ability to go at my own pace, but reminds me to stay active. My hope is to surpass 50k, but I will at least reach it. For me, this will be all about pacing and reminding myself to rest.
I signed up for this with a leg in pain, but that's the life I lead of every day being different, and it's not going to stop me from moving forward, just as MS won't.
My goal is to raise any amount, because even the smallest amount can help, but I really hope to smash the goal of $350 and even a $2 donation will help me do that.
