Support my challenge to leave MS behind!

I’m taking part in The May 50K challenge this May to raise funds for life-changing research into multiple sclerosis!

I am personally affected by MS and as the team captain I was officially diagnosed in 2019 (6 years ago). I continue to work full time and keen on raising awareness and continuing the fight as an MS Warrior. I started this challenge in 2024 and finished with completing 177 kms.

MS strikes young people in the prime of their lives. The average age of diagnosis is only 30 years old, and there is no known cure.

Please make a donation and support my challenge to leave MS where it belongs, behind us.

Your donation will support research into the prevention, treatment and finding a cure for multiple sclerosis to change lives. We are always after other warriors to join this fight and support this cause.

Thank you!

MY IMPACT TO LEAVE MS BEHIND OVER 2 YEARS

My Updates

Day 21

This is my current achievements for this year attempt at the May50K. I completed this individually last year, this was my first time in doing the challenge. This was a massive challenge for me with my own diagnosis with RRMS.

This year I decided to re-enter with a team with allies from my workplace and other friends. My team - Kickin Goals for MS (KGMS) have been useful and a source of motivation for me.

My personal goals and that of KGMS are outlined below.

DAY 21 UPDATE
 Posted by Shayne, Wednesday 21st

Go Team KGMS!!! The team has been Kickin Goals for MS. I would like to personally thank all the very special team members on their contributions towards this common goal of collective moving towards smashing the goal of 860km. This a mammoth goal.

I would like to proud outline what we have all achieved so far as a team.

Completed distance: 589.71 km
Donations received: $2078

My own personal achievements within the team. As a person living with MS and a MS Warrior - this has been a personal challenge for me. My initial challenge was to walk for 150km.

Completed distance: 109 km
Distance to complete: 41 kms
Donations received: $894.52

Now is the interesting part as we move towards the last remaining days. Hopefully my body will reach this final goal. The ongoing support, generous donations and inspiring words I am personally received is helping me towards this goal.

Many thanks in advance to everyone

Final day

As person living with MS or what is commonly known as a MS Warrior, the outpouring of support and kind words has been encouraging to me and overwhelming.

Living with this changes your perceptions on the whole and also what is achievable. When your body doesn’t do what it should do can be very frustrating and mentally challenging. Events such as MS50K is important two fold not only for generous donations to continue research. In addition, it has positive effects not only on the community but helps in transforming Warriors lives.

I am beyond words how to describe my emotions at the moment. I just wanted to express how grateful I am to the KGMS team members and the generous donations. Thank you thank you thank you.

Day 7 Update

I would like to show love and gratitude to the team and all the supporters of KGMS. The struggle of MS can be difficult some days. Personally. I could not work towards this goal of walking 150km without the continued support from my Allied Health team at Good Sports Physiotherapy in particular George and Amanda.

This is why this is super important to reach these goals to continue the work into research to try and find a cure for MS.

This is a fantastic achievement in just 7 days. Awesome work all you legends!!!

WE'VE RAISED $1,813 OF $2,500 GOAL

WE'VE LOGGED 163.54KM OF 780KM GOAL

If you can donate this would be greatly appreciated! Help in supporting by becoming a fellow Warrior in this community.

Thank you all you legends

Thank you for all the donations that have been received. This is highly appreciated and helps motivate us in striving for meeting our collective goals. As a MS Warrior myself, I am overwhelmed by this support but warms my heart of all the kind words and donations received.

I have learnt that MS is not only challenging but can totally change your life. Please help me in sharing and talking about MS.

Once again thank you to everyone with their support whether this is monetary or with physically embarking on this journey with me.
