Hey there,

I’m taking part in The May 50K this May to raise funds for life-changing research into Multiple Sclerosis—a cause very close to my heart. Seeing someone I care about navigate the challenges of this condition has made me realise how vital research is.

Throughout May, I will be walking and swimming 50km to raise awareness and funds for the 37,000+ Australians living with MS.

MS is a condition where the immune system attacks myelin - the fatty material which coats and protects our nerves. This damage slows down or blocks messaging between the brain and body. Symptoms like vision changes, numbness, changes to thinking and memory, pain, fatigue are often hidden, but they have a huge impact on daily life.

MS is the most common acquired chronic neurological disease affecting young adults, the average age of diagnosis being only 30 years old.

There is no known cure yet for MS. Nonetheless, since 2000, treatment options for MS have increased from just 1 to 15 available treatments, thanks to funding and research.
